The Colorado Avalanche announced Monday that they have signd PTO’s Rene Bourque and Gabriel Bourque to 1 year contracts.
It was also announced by many reporters including TSN’s Bob McKenzie that the Avs have placed Mike Sislo and newly signed Gabriel Bourque on waivers. Both have to pass through waivers in order to report to the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage.
Sislo and Gabriel Bourque being put on waivers suggests they are the two latest cuts and the Avs have one more cut to make to get down to the NHL mandated 23 man roster.
What is important to know is that Mikko Rantanen, Jarome Iginla and Blake Comeau are nursing injuries. If one, some or all of them are unable to go on opening against the Dallas Stars on the 15th, they would not be counted toward the 23 man roster.
It’s also important to note that even though Sislo and G. Bourque were put on waivers, it’s still possible they make the opening night roster. It all depends on the health of Rantanen, Iginla and Comeau.
