Avs Finalize 23 Man Roster For Opening Night

The new season is finally upon us.

Two days before the Avalanche start their 2017-18 campaign, the Colorado Avalanche made a waiver claim and made their final two roster cuts to finalize their 23 man roster.

In somewhat surprising moves, the Avalanche claimed 25 year old defenseman Patrik Nemeth off of waivers from the Dallas Stars then cut Anton Lindholm, who seemed like a roster lock just a week ago.

Forward Gabriel Bourque was the other cut. Both Lindholm and Bourque have been sent to AHL’s San Antonio Rampage.

So what is the 23 man roster (and lineup) for opening night? Well, going by pre-season and scrimmage lineups, this is the likely lineup for Thursday night opener against the New York Rangers.

Sven Andrighetto – Nathan MacKinnon – Mikko Rantanen

Alex Kerfoot – Matt Duchene – Nail Yakupov

Gabriel Landeskog – J.T. Compher – Colin Wilson

Matt Nieto – Tyson Jost – Blake Comeau

Extras: Carl Soderberg, Joe Colborne

Nikita Zadorov – Erik Johnson

Patrik Nemeth – Tyson Barrie

Chris Bigras – Mark Barberio

Extra: Andrei Mironov

Semyon Varlamov – Jonathan Bernier
